# Code of conduct

The BigBrain Hackathon is a working event for a community that spans career stages,
disciplines, institutions, and countries. Everyone in the room is here to build something.
Behave in a way that lets them.

## Expected

- Be respectful and generous with your expertise, especially toward people who are new to
the tools, the data, or the field.
- Credit contributions. Hackathon work is collaborative; say who did what.
- Assume competence. Ask before offering to take over someone's keyboard.
- Accept that people work at different speeds and with different backgrounds.

## Not acceptable

- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind, including on the basis of gender,
gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity,
nationality, religion, age, or career stage.
- Unwelcome sexual attention, imagery, or language.
- Deliberate disruption of sessions, talks, or other people's work.
- Publishing others' private information without permission.

## Reporting

If you experience or witness a breach of this code, contact the organisers in person or by email at
tffunck@gmail.com.
Reports are handled discreetly.

Organisers may take any action they judge appropriate, from a warning to removal from the
event without refund and, where relevant, a report to the participant's institution.

## Scope

This code applies for the full duration of the hackathon, in the venue and in any online
space used by the event, including the project issue tracker in this repository.
